035 Got a Podcast Idea? Pitch! Please!

We’re calling on the VIC Podcasters community to pitch their episode ideas and guest suggestions for the podcast. Whether it's a tech tip, story fail, or a podcasting “aha” moment, now's your time to shape what we create together.

Every podcaster has their story. A win, or a facepalm moment that’s worth sharing, and that’s exactly what we champion at VIC Podcasters. So now we’re putting our money where our mouths are and asking for your pitches 🤑 (Please note you don’t need to pay to pitch, this is just my turn of phrase 😁) It's not just about myself and the team setting the agenda, but giving every VIC Podcaster member the mic to say what they want covered next. Whether you're just curious about podcasting tech tools, longing for a audience niche breakdown, or just want to tell people to avoid your rookie pod mistakes, there's a spot for you.

This is page holds the secrets (not really a secret) on how and where you can pitch your topic ideas. Submissions are open for individual topics, member guest spots, and even suggestions for others who should be interviewed. I want to lay out exactly how those ideas are sorted, shortlisted, and turned into future episodes via our favourite format: a community poll.

You’re are also encouraged to get involved in upcoming workshops, Q&As and perhaps even host or co-host something yourselves. It's an open invite to co-create a podcast season that reflects what we all want to hear. If that lights you up, submit your pitch through the form at the top of this webpage.

Yes, yes, folks, it's that time of year again. I want to hear your ideas for the Vicpodcasters podcast. You're listening to the Vicpodcasters podcast, your bite-sized slice of podcasting know-how.

    (0:19 - 0:33)

We're here to connect Victorian podcasters. Whether you're just starting, a seasoned pro, or stuck in the one day I will phase, stop dreaming and dive in. Join our email list, or hop onto our Facebook and LinkedIn groups for updates, resources, and a supportive community.

    (0:33 - 2:00)

Because podcasting is better when we do it together. Vicpodcasters is proudly produced on Wadawurrung land. Ultimately, this is your community.

Vicpodcasters is by podcasters, for podcasters. So you're not just allowed to, you're invited to pitch into us. So the things that we want to keep on track of when it comes to the Vicpodcasters podcast.

Of course, our episodes are five minutes long, but we want to be able to answer your questions, whether they're big or small. And if they take a couple of episodes and that's what they need. Also, we want to look into, especially into the 2026 year, we want to look in inviting guests onto the podcast, which yes, may be more than five minutes, but we'll allow you to see and hopefully have the opportunity to share your own podcasting knowledge with your fellow podcasters.

If there are any topics that you are particularly keen on, anything podcast related, big or small. If they're tech tips, story crafting, monetization wins, niche know-hows, or something that you wish you were told when you first started podcasting, you can follow the first link in the show notes to help pitch your topics and give us a background to be able to answer your question thoroughly. When it comes to speakers, guests, and legends, of course, if you want to pitch yourself and your podcast on to be a guest on our podcast, you can also do that by the same form on that same link in the description.

    (2:00 - 2:58)

Or if you know someone who is brilliant at podcasting, tell us. If it could be a podcast host, it could be an editor, it could be your wise auntie Cheryl, we would love to be able to bring people on in an interview setting, maybe once every fortnight onto the podcast to be able to bring people value and vibes and be able to help them on their podcasting journey. G'day listener, I'm just pausing your podcasting experience to let you know that I have my own the Unboring Your Brand podcast.

It's branding, but make it unboring. Smashing your goals while laughing and listening to Unboring Your Brand podcast. Check it out wherever your podcatcher says that you can.

You can find the one that's by the video confidence coach, and that's me. And now back to your scheduled programming. So, as I mentioned before, you can drop your information via that first link in the description, or you'll be able to find posts on our Facebook and LinkedIn groups and in our email newsletter.

    (2:59 - 5:32)

You can go about posting these ideas on the designated posts outlined, especially that look like this cover image on this podcast episode today. Mainly just because I don't want to be overwhelmed too much with all the prompts and ideas from all of you, because I'm sure you have a bunch of great ideas. So you can also, if you feel inclined with the email newsletter that this is attached to, you can also reply back to me and I'll make sure to put this onto the list of podcast episodes in the future.

And if you can explain why your podcast topic should be included, that will definitely help me, but also help others who are listening. And again, if you want to be a guest yourself, feel free to come on down. You can, if you've got a story, a tip or a please don't do what I did moment, please do share.

So I would love to have those again in that first link in the description. So what happens next is what I will do is I'll collect everything over say the next couple of weeks, review, pop it into a short list, and then either put it on my episode boards ideas or pitch it to the group and see what people want to hear from most. Usually in a poll, we like to do our polls here at Vic Podcasters.

So for this current season, we're pretty much booked in with ideas and already pre-recorded a fair bunch, but for future seasons, you're definitely in. And if not now, definitely in the future topics, ideas that we have, nothing is wasted. You can always be sure that you will appear on the Vic Podcasters podcast soon.

And as you can imagine, we are going to be hosting future Q&A and workshop events in the groups, again, the LinkedIn, the Facebook and the email newsletter. So make sure that you keep an eye out for those as they come up. And if you have any recommendations for events that you want to either host or you want to help please do reach out and let me know that as well.

If you've got any ideas, we've got the mic. Suggest your topic, pitch your speaker, or step into the spotlight yourself. Vic Podcasters, your platform, your people.

That's it for this week's episode. Tune in next week for more tips, updates, and the occasional pun. Good ideas buzzing? Excellent.

Head to the show notes in this episode for details that you'll need to dive deeper into Victoria's podcasting community. Vic Podcasters would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, live, and play. We pay our respects to our elders past and present.

We stand with the traditional custodians in these lands in working towards a more equal future. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. And hey, don't forget, podcasting is better with mates.
